Tutorial is terrible

Post by SolidScorpion »

I found the tutorial just abhorrent. I couldn't follow any of the actions it was taking or why. Just autoplay's and then tells you something then keeps going. No explanation up front about symbols on cards, what any of it means, what I am even looking for, ect.... Anyone else find the tutorial hard as hell to follow? I left it and just read the rules myself.

No.

Perhaps you can improve it.

I usually find the tutorials very helpful, but this one needs a lot of work. At the moment it doesn't really help much :(

No you can't. Only the author of the tutorial can. Who in this case is, surprisingly, also the author of the guidelines you linked to ;-)

So, if you think the tutorial can be improved, contact its author directly and tell them your ideas.

I guess Meeplelowda meant improving it by creating a new one.

The guidelines I linked to were written by Nekonyancer. The Forest Shuffle tutorial was created by togepi31. Perhaps you are confusing this with the tutorial for Forest Shuffle: Dartmoor, which was created by Nekonyancer. Yes, I recognize that FS: Dartmoor was just released and maybe that's what OP is talking about given the timing. But the OP never actually referred to the game in question by name and posted in this forum. If the OP was talking about FS: Dartmoor, then this is in the wrong forum.

Also, see below.

Yes, Jellby understood. And this still applies, even if this is about Forest Shuffle: Dartmoor.

Not quite. There is a live tutorial for Forest Shuffle made by Nekonyancer: https://boardgamearena.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=44830 I got this link when I started the tutorial from the game page, that's why I thought you were talking about this one. It has a rating of 4.2.

There is another tutorial https://boardgamearena.com/tutorial?gam ... orial=1349 made by togepi31. It has a beta status and a rating of 2.9.

So I recommend you use just this link https://boardgamearena.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=44830 for a good tutorial for Forest Shuffle. No need to make your own one :-)
