Buttercups - anyone else interested in plants enough to be bothered by the weird translation choice?

I expect this cannot be changed as it appears to be the same in the English cardboard version, but it really bugs me that the clematis are called "buttercups" in the game. The original game is in Polish and the word they use is "powojniki" - clematis - so, whoever came up with that translation doesn't know a tulip from a daisy.
Yes, both buttercups and clematis are members of the buttercup plant family. But so are colombines and delphiniums and many more. They are still all very different flowers, from different genera.

I agree it seems like no one checked the translation - pretty important to get it right when you only have a few plants to choose from.

Beautiful game though and much more fun and strategy involved than I expected when I watched a playthrough. I'm glad I played it for myself. I'm hoping to get the actual board game soon.

Edit: I meant to say it looked like wisteria to me in the way it hangs down - although the only wisteria I've ever seen is purple. Clematis tends to grow up a vine, and not hang down

But buttercups definitely do not hang down from pergolas

Yes, very strange. I'm not even a native English speaker, but this immediately seemed off to me when I read the rules. This game is probably going to attract audiences of people who are into gardening, so a major error like this is bound to get noticed. Maybe they'll fix/change it in later editions.

It's also strange that the original Polish version calls it a clematis though, because (like SionedCati said as well) the artwork makes me think it's supposed to be a wisteria.

The actual rulebook does mention clematis.
" Most of the buttercups of the clematis genus that we grow in our gardens are vine plants" But that sentence is the only mention, they use the word buttercup everywhere else. I think it should have been clematis genus of the buttercup family, or something like that.

Either way I have never seen clematis like that in grape-like clusters, that indeed invokes more wisteria (which does come in these colors).
