Not being able to place animals in newly added enclosures (as placement bonus)

When I build a new enclosure, there is a message that appears at the top, saying I can add an animal to the enclosure as a placement bonus. I have the right animal, all conditions are met, I have the money, but not sure how I actually place it. I click on the animal card, but nothing happens. Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong?

you seem to be confused.

When you add a special enclose into your zoo, you may put animals already in your zoo into that special enclosure (and free some standard enclosure). You may not play new animals.

I am not sure which placement bonus you are talking about. Can you explain a bit more?

When you add a special enclose into your zoo, you may put animals already in your zoo into that special enclosure (and free some standard enclosure). You may not play new animals.

If it were about the Reptile House, the Large Bird Aviary or the Large Aquarium (when playing with Marine World), as Azoken thinks, you should be able to click an animal card you already played in order to move it to the new special enclosure and thus free one of your earlier played enclosures. But be aware that the game doesn't "remember" where you placed this animal in the first place. Instead, the game will clear the smallest possible enclosure, where that animal could have lived in.

When you build a special enclosure, you may move animals you have already played before into the special enclosure if they meet the requirements , freeing up standard enclosures that meet their requirements. You can’t play new animals at this point. To move animals into the special enclosure, you click on them in your played animals section. Clicking a card in hand won’t have any effect, because it’s not the time to play new animals.
