Movers & Shakers is now in Alpha

Post by paramesis »

Movers & Shakers, the upcoming game designed by Paulo Soledade and Nuno Bizarro Sentieiro (designers of Nippon, Madeira, Panamax), with art by Andreas Resch and published by Quined Games.

In the late 19th century, Bengal became a key hub for railway expansion in British India, surpassing earlier developments elsewhere in the country. The East Indian Railway Company led the charge, beginning with the Howrah–Hooghly line in 1854. Driven by strategic, economic, and export needs, the rail network rapidly spread across the region. By century’s end, Bengal had one of India’s most extensive and vital railway systems, powering both commerce and colonial control.

In Movers & Shakers, you play as a railway magnate in 19th-century Bengal, competing to transport goods, fulfil contracts, and invest your profits wisely. Over two strategic rounds, you’ll use your own and rival trains to move Crates between Benares and Calcutta, aiming to build wealth through sharp planning and bold decisions. Only the most ambitious and efficient tycoon will rise to shape the future of Bengal’s railways.

Good catch. Now that we're in Alpha, that is locked in as the starting point for the average duration of a game, and that will be revised upward automatically with actual game durations once Movers & Shakers goes into Beta. I have gone in and increased the amount of time added per turn for real time games so it has a more realistic starting point (60s,90s,120s for fast/medium/slow). This time added per turn will also adjust automatically in Beta.

Any chance this will be released into Beta before the campaign ends? Would really like to try it out before committing if possible.
