What does promotion token do

Can anyone tell me what the promotion token does in this game? We each received one at the beginning of the game, and I have gone through the rule book trying to find out what it's purpose is, but haven't had any luck. Also have done a web search, and again haven't had any luck in finding anything that explains it.

Do you mean Market Token? Market Tokens are what you start with if you are playing at 4-5 players. You can discard it to take 1 additional action when you use the City Center. The additional action can even be a repeat of an action you already took. For example, sell DNA twice and then use the money surplus to buy something really expensive.

Promotion Tokens are a thing as well but you mostly get them by going to the Timeshare. They are worth 1 Reputation for as long as you have them but they can be taken away if the supply runs out and someone else goes to Time Share.
