Strategic Reserve in beta

Strategic Reserve is a very unusual dice abstract. Your turn begins with a dice roll that maps to a single square on a 6x6 board. This could cause a group capture, or multiple group captures. Then you place a checker, concluding your turn.

Looks really interesting. I'm in the midst of my first game. ... I noticed the notes at the bottom -- and those are really helpful.

Another approach to the confusing parts could be to not let the next dice roll take place until the next-moving player comes to the table and presses a "roll" button, say. That would follow the flow of an in-real-life game and make more clear which results came from which move.

Yeah, that's how I did it in Run Buster. Everything happens with a manual button press. Nothing is automatic.

I had retired from programming for a few years. I came out of retirement to program Jokerball, and then went on to program Strategic Reserve, 420, and Run Buster back to back. Now I'm retired again.

I don't have words to describe the level of my reluctance to crack open a program. As an amateur programmer, it's always stressful, consuming, taxing... It's also fun in a way, at first, but then it just turns into a drag.

For better or worse, you're stuck with Strategic Reserve as it is. It's a little awkward, but you can eventually get used to it.

If you haven't tried Run Buster, it's by far my most popular game. I always keep a table open.
