Run Buster is a pure dice game where you're trying to get a hand of a full straight.

Run buster was a satisfying design. Six faces per die, six dice per hand, and goal of all six numbers. Besides the symmetry, I wanted players to be able to kill dice in their opponent’s hand, because I like violence in a game.
It wasn't an easy project. The first challenge was that it's pretty easy to get a full straight - maybe not on the first roll, but after a few successive rerolls.
The breakthrough was the rule that if you complete your OPPONENT'S full straight with your own roll, you kill their hand.
420 was an offshoot while I wasn't getting anywhere with Run Buster. Ironically, 420 got by far the most enthusiastic alpha response of any of my 20 BGA games.
Run Buster wasn't as quick out of the gate, but I think it's a better game, because of the design aesthetics and because there's more skill involved.
