question on decorum in gameplay for LN

Post by memeasaurusrex »

was playing a random game and did very poorly, at the end was down about 3 tiles with no chance while my opponent was at one space to cover, instead of using either of the two available from the pot that finished the game they proceeded to make double diagonals over and over across the board, rearranging to keep extending the turn, 8 plays, about a minute of playing around before putting down the winning tile. I told them that was being a poor winner and did the downvote after, is that something that should be reported? They just laughed and said I should have conceeded long before and I was wasting their time making them play out to the end. Most of the time there's no convo in games besides gg at end, unsure how that fits into conduct rules though and thought I'd ask here.

Maybe they were a poor winner, but no you cannot report this. Reports are basically for abusive language and various forms of cheating. Merely being a jerk, but not in an abusive way, is not something you should waste a report on. The red thumb is the appropriate action.

You have to right to keep playing a losing game if you choose, so I disagree that you should have conceded "long before," but once they started wasting your time prolonging the game, conceding was the obvious response IMO.

fair enough I put them on avoid this player anyway their chat was a bit more spicy than my paraphrase but I play for fun win or lose, just seemed really immature and unnecessary, thx for the feedback on my mulling.

I'm sorry that happened 😔

I've had some horrible interactions on here, but the friendly ones make up for it. Although if a player messages me during a game that I'm winning, I immediately get anxious that they're writing something mean or abusive. I had one guy crack it because I wouldn't agree to mutually abandon a game he was losing, I told him to conceded or finish. He then went on a rant about what an unskilled player I was, how didn't understand how the game worked etc.

I know there are two schools of thought on this, but with short games, I hate it when someone concedes just before the end, I want that dopamine hit dammit 🤣

Memeasaurusrex...I've run into that guy too. I did the exact same thing you did.

It’s funny that the code of conduct prohibits “Tak[ing] an unnecessary and unreasonable amount of time at the end of game in an obvious losing position.” but doesn't forbid doing the same in a winning position. (It does also prohibit “provocation / triumphalism / defeatism” but I don’t think that behaviour quite rises to triumphalism.)

(Shaking my head at the idea of not conceding three moves ago in Lucky Numbers of all games being such a shocking waste of time that they’d go and do that…)
