Players quitting at end of game

It seems unfair that if a player quits at the very end of the game, instead of completing their final move, the other players don’t gain the elo and arena points that they are due. I don’t mind at other times, but I feel like if we are one move from the end then neutralising the points penalises the person winning. I’ve experienced it in Space Base but I expect its common to other games too.

I went to your history to find the game that presumably triggered this post. You apparently did not notice the message on the game end screen:

Game result cancelled (Someone left this game before the end) :
The player who left (or was skipped) lost the game and got a ☯ penalty.
The other players won this game and get 100% of normal ELO points (because 100% of this game was played before the incident).

It is silent on the matter of Arena points but I would imagine the same principle applies there as well.

Now perhaps it doesn’t seem fair to you that everybody else was considered a winner if somebody was in a strong first place, and I could probably agree it might seem a little unfair, but this is a formula designed to account for somebody quitting at the 25% mark as well as the 99% or 100%. Not to mention final scoring wouldn’t have happened and there might be bonus points allocated that change who the winner would have been.

It says you got 100% of the ELO pts. So that wasn't affected. As for Arena, dunno about that because I never do Arena.

I appreciate your replies. It does seem to affect the Arena points, which was why I posted after that particular game.

It isn’t a huge problem, more of an occasional annoyance.
