End of Game

Post by killsey »

I've played a few rounds where once someone reaches 50❤️, everyone will get a round and then the results will be decided... I thought that was the flow of the game.

But now I have played a few games where someone reaches 50❤️, and I then don't get another round even though I'm not yet at 50❤️ and have combos where I could win the game... Resulting in a loss for me.

What are the actual rules on this?

„As soon as a player has filled all 50 of their Hearts track, take turns until everyone has taken the same number of turns.“

By the way, the game page has a link to the English rules.

I‘m not sure, if it is an advantage for the second player. Letting all players have the same number of turns is intended to make the game more fair, not to give an advantage specifically to the second player.

This is a common design choice in many board games with sequential turns. It prevents the situation where someone earlier in turn order (like Player 1) has more total turns simply because they go first - which itself would be an advantage

It's unclear to me if the advantage lies with player 1 or player 2. Player 1 has first dibs on taking a card (they usually can pick between the 0-cost or 1-cost slot) while player 2 will get first dibs on the card that was in the 2 star slot and went down to the 1 star slot. The other positive for player 1 is that some card effects will have more opportunities to go off for them because of their earlier turn order, specifically things like double crosses or 1 star per cross. The upside that you seem to be aware of for player 2 is that they have more information on each of their turns, so they know better whether to push their luck and how good of a roll they need to shoot for to stay competitive/overtake player 1 on the last turn.
