There seems to be no real place to find out how they score things. I was in second place 4 times in a row. Got plus 1 plus 1, 0 and minus 1. I also eliminated 1 other player once and 2 players in another one of those games. Should be a bonus point for taking another player out.

If you lose a 6-player game then you lose 5 match-ups (against each of the opponents) at the same time. There is a factor to reduce the ELO loss a bit but one can think of getting 6th position being approximately equivalent to losing 5 games in a row.

Furthermore it was only the 9th game of this player. He gained 70+ points in other games (plural) and he was probably very overrated with almost 300 ELO points. In the first 20 games the K-factor is doubled for such a new player - such that bigger swings are allowed and new players reach their true ELO faster.

These big swings do not work extremely well in luck-based games like Poker where almost all players lie in the range of 100-300 ELO. But this is the tradeoff for having an identical ELO formula that can be applied to almost all games on BGA.

If you want more details on ELO you can read the BGA FAQ.

You’ve made this complaint before, and I answered your question in the other thread (that you started). If you don’t care to listen to answers people give to your questions, that’s on you, but you can definitely “find out how they score things”. Once more: if you hover over the arrow that shows in the Elo calculation, you can see all the details. Like if it says “+5➜[109]” you can just hover over that arrow.
