Rule Clarification

Hi all,

I had to clarify a rule relating to situations when you lay a shield that joins two or more land parcels controlled by only one opponent. In this instance, one of the men controlling the two shields is returned to the opponent, but the opponent still controls the larger land parcel, hence you, as the player joining the two parcels cannot claim it.

This contrasts the situation where you lay a shield that joins two or more land parcels that are controlled by more than one player. Then all of the men are removed and you can claim the enlarged land parcel.

This rule clarification is part of BGA Rules version 1.4. uploaded today.

In Carcassonne and Marram, meeples are not removed when merging, and the player with the most meeples on the merged area wins the control. Above you write that in Elongo, all meeples are removed if they belong to 2 or more players, regardless of who has the majority/plurality, allowing you to claim control.

It's a quite important difference that this rule in Elongo - when merging 2 or more areas with meeples from 2 or more players - is different from the rules in those games, so I am just asking for additional verification/clarification.
