How to analyse and find your mistakes

Post by __Daniel »

I find it hard to find ways to improve my strategy,
even though I read guides I am not sure what went wrong, when I get too few points and I watch the replay, it‘s hard to tell which move got too few points or any metric for one move except 2gold=2compass=2tablet=1arrowhead ruby=3 card=1 burn=1

Depends on what you're aiming for. I checked your profile to see what that might be and found out you’re getting scores around 80, just like me, so I can’t really help you. I know
you’ve been through some strategy content, but maybe you haven’t read this thread on BGG? https://boardgamegeek.com/thread/273456 ... -experienc

Watching games by top players on BGA in replay can also help a lot, I know it’s tedious given the way replay is implemented, but it works. There is also some helpful content by Phoenicks on YouTube, general strategy as well as game commentary.

At least for me, getting considerably better at this game (on the Bird side, didn’t really start to play the other one) would’ve meant quite an investment, so I decided to play less and less after losing some of the meager Elo I had. There are games I enjoy a lot even though I’m stuck in my progress early on, this isn’t one of them. You’d probably get more input on BGG, especially if you find a way to explain where the problem might be (I know that’s difficult, but it’s also difficult to tell somebody how to improve without knowing the way they play).
