not enough time to pick initial corp, cards, etc.

Post by swartzne »

I am a player still learning the game. It is very difficult to make all the initial decisions in a minute and a half. Then as soon as you run over time. The other players kick you out and you loose Karma. I like the game, but there is not much use playing it because others don't want you to learn and get use to it. I am not going to pay premium prices to get abused like this. There needs to be more time given initially in a game like this. Other games that are simpler give 3 minutes.

For my part, I am no longer really a new player learning the game, but I think you are right: it is inconsistent to allow the same amount of time for the first move, choosing the corporation, preludes, and project cards, as for the other moves.

Personally, I choose the slow mode when I play live games, but only to have a satisfactory amount of time for the first round; I could play all the other moves within the allotted time.

I thought I had seen this topic discussed on the forum. Most players, whether new or not so new, seemed to agree, as far as I recall, but I can’t find it anymore.

As for you, until this is fixed, I would recommend learning the game in turn-based games. That’s what I personally did, until I was at least able to play games in slow mode.

Thanks for your help. It is usually hard to find either turn based or slow games, I usually have to wait a long time. I hope the developers will see this and make changes in the game. Thanks again.

If you want to start a turn-based game, you can just click start, go about your business, and come back later. You don't need to wait in front of BGA for the game to start.

Yes as someone who's played the game a lot, I still dont have enough time to think over complicated hands when I want to math out if I can afford an extra card and still do all my geng 1 plays. I still want the rest of the game played fast.

This has been on the forums several times and in the developer suggestions. Upvote that, but I think right now BGA does not have the capacity for variable time.

Also frustrating the exploit where the other player can cancel the game as soon as the time reaches 0, not even giving you the 20 second grace period that you normally get the rest of the game, if they dont like their starting hand

Minor nitpick, but the time for initial card selection is 2:12, not a minute and a half, right?

Either way, that's not much time.
