How does total burn mode work on BGA

I'm enjoying playing this on BGA using the total burn option but i'm struggling to figure out exactly how it works and the rules links don't help. If a player captures more than enough stones to fill all their holes the excess either get placed in their storehouse or removed from the game. On what does this depend?

Each pit gets seven seeds (as per the setup phase), with leftover seeds remaining in the player's storehouse. If there are not enough seeds to fill a pit, the pit gets burned and removed from play. Players cannot put seeds into the burned pit. Hope this helps!
