Awful new interface

Post by david060742 »

Does any else hate the changes to the interface? They look dated and clumsy. As someone who has worked as a programmer, I would not be happy if this was what I was producing.

He's talking about those telepathy changes.

I don't know what they were thinking either...

Look in "Tournaments" and in "Bugs" and you'll see it.

Tournaments - clumsy new UI, took features away, more difficult to use

Bugs - clumsy new UI, but not as bad as tourneys, took features away (such as one click to see open bugs when visiting from an active game, logging a bug requires more clicking, and not as easy to see previous bugs in a category to avoid duplicates), more difficult to use

Games page (new "lobby" from a couple years ago) - clumsy UI, took features away, table creation / matchmaking still has bugs

The user base speaks up whenever changes are made that make the site more difficult to use and rarely does anything get tweaked to fix the issues.

There is a pattern here...

I am also a software engineer and have designed many, many products over my career. If regular customers had legit feedback, we'd make a plan to incorporate it, and communicate along the way what/when to expect. If the feedback wasn't doable, we'd explain why.

Taking features away and replacing good interfaces with poor ones seems to be a trend on many websites, so BGA isn't alone. But I don't understand why this happens.

I think the confusion in this thread is around the fact that there are several other threads talking about the changes (and generally not positively), and it wasn't clear why the OP needed to create a whole new thread looking for users with similar opinions, rather than joining one of the (several) ongoing discussions.

I didn't see any other posts about this. There isn't any on the first page of "Discussions" and I did a search but the search engine is awful in forums.

Thank you. That was the issue I was talking about but didn't explain it well. There are other in game issues as well with confirm leaving friendly games and such. Once again they have made a bad system worse.
