Joining Tournaments

After I register for a tournament do I have to do anything to get into the games once the tournament goes live? Sometimes I have popups to join the games but lots of times I don't and I feel like I've registered for tournaments and never get to play in them. Do I have to be in the app or on the site at the time the tournament goes live to get the join popups?

Tournaments start automatically, nothing else you need to do after you registered, just play the games and finish them in time. You see your ongoing tournaments when you click on your avatar on top right, and on the bottom of the appearing window, you have two buttons: "Tables" and "Tournaments". Clicking on "Tournaments" provides you a list of running tournaments you registered for (including those where you got already eliminated but the tournament hasn't finished).

Well, recently they added the feature where all the players need to join the game before it starts. But it seems that even if a player doesn't join, the game will still start with all the players after a while. This makes me wonder what is even the point of this feature.
