Private tournament without ELO restriction

Post by Aayla »

Hi everyone,

I’m trying to create a private Faraway tournament on BGA, but it seems impossible to remove the minimum ELO / skill restriction (for games like Forest Shuffle or Faraway, for example)

Is it currently possible to create a private tournament with no ELO restriction at all, so complete beginners can join?

Thanks!

I believe if you send the player a direct invite, it bypasses the 100 ELO requirement.

No, I can’t even participate myself until I have a high enough ELO. It’s a bit unfortunate for games we know perfectly well because we play them regularly in real life.

I find it strange that private tournaments don’t have an option to remove this requirement

On the tournament page, in the "Tournament Registration" panel (where it lists number of players per game), you find an invitation link. When you send this invitation link and players register via this link, then it bypasses all Elo restrictions. Every player with the private link should be able to join.

However, I think you can also enable Beginners (<100 Elo) when creating a tournament. In the "Tournament Information" panel, below the part where you can upload a picture, you find "Audience limitation", you have to toggle the button to the right and that opens "Karma & ELO limits". In the Elo limits dropdown, you can enable "Newcomers" (Elo>=0).
