I'm happy to announce that Book Festival! is now in alpha and ready for review.
~~ What is it about? ~~
Book Festival! is a "deck-building × roll-and-move" game for 3 to 6 players.
Welcome to the Book Festival, the animals' celebration of books! You stock your
own booth with books and eye-catching POP displays to assemble a bookshelf all
your own.
~~ How does it play? ~~
First, on your turn, you improve your booth (place books, buy POP displays or an
end shelf, retrieve books, draw cards). Then everyone rolls together and the animal
customers travel across the booths — your finished shelves literally become the
spaces they move along. When a customer stops on your books, they buy them and your
booth earns review stars. Each animal has a favourite genre and bulk-buys it for
extra stars.
At the end, the festival's MVP booth is decided by drawing review-star chips from
the vote bag. Collecting the most stars helps, but the MVP is never guaranteed —
there's always a chance for a last-minute comeback!
