URLs in Forum Posts Are Causing Errors

Post by Meeplelowda »

I just recently tried attaching a link to the URL for a forum thread to text in a post. Clicking on that link gave this error:
Forbidden
This page cannot be opened inside a frame.
I thought maybe it was the <url> tag itself that was broken, so I edited it to add the bare link. Same error.

The thread in question is the one about H-Index in the Suggestions forum. I can't link to it because of the bug I'm describing....which is kinda meta.

However, if you quote a post from the thread, the little up arrow in the quoted post does link to the thread. So I guess I can link to the problem thread by quoting the OP of that thread:

Hmm... Let's see.

Plain text: https://boardgamearena.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=49886
[ url ]: https://boardgamearena.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=49886

I get to error posting or visiting these links.

For what it's worth, the link isn't useless. Clicking it may fail, but at least things like opening it in a new tab still work.

Right! I said it worked for me because I middle-clicked on it (open in new tab) and it worked. But indeed, if I just left click (open in same tab) I get the error message too.

This bug has been acknowledged. But definitely not resolved, because I just got the error again. As Ceaseless and Jellby said, you can still access a link by opening it in another tab. But I think this is intermittent, because I hadn't noticed this happening for the past few days, but maybe I haven't clicked any links.

It definitely happened to me several times in the past few days, and I think 100% of the links I tried.
