more leaderboards

Post by richyfourtytwo »

I'm a stats addict and love leaderboards. For me BGA's Hall of Fame is not enough.

So I created a group today for having more different types of leaderboards, but restricted to people in that group. https://boardgamearena.com/group?id=20876666 The boards will be created via getting data from the member's profile pages. I'm not yet sure how I'll publish them. Probably I'll start with just posting on the group page, but if that gets too long I'll probably switch to a google sheet. Happy to hear better suggestions.

Join the group if you are interested and let me know what kind of leaderboard you'd like to see. Best average win% for all games with a 'u' in the name? ;-)

I'd love to show you some data already, but with currently 1 group member that would be a bit lame. (Tempting though, probably my only change ever to go on top of anything ;-) )

I agree, there's a lot of interesting data about users that could be collected that currently is not.

Along similar ideas, I wish that when you visit a user's profile and look at their trophies, clicking on their tournament trophies gave you a link to said tournament, just like it does when you click on your own tournament trophies. Sometimes I want to see what a player achieved and look up their tournaments and maybe watch their replays. It's annoying to have to go to the tournament search page and type all the tournament names when it could just be a link.

Plus, if it was made easier to do then people would now pay more attention to other people's tournaments and achievements, which would create a better culture on this site. Currently, it feels like most people aren't very aware of the history of things (especially when it comes to tournaments that happened before they themselves started playing the game on here). Just like how in the real world, lots of people only care about history when it's something they lived themselves.

Thanks for your comments.

Note that this is not a thread for collecting feedback for BGA. This is for stats that I can create for this group. (Be the change you want to see ... :-) )

On another note I already found a good way to publish the data on github, fully automated which means: more likely to be updated frequently.

Here's a preview, still very much work in progress and super-boring with 1 player (me): https://gist.github.com/bergedorfcacher ... 22fb969384

Meanwhile we've grown to 5 members, so the leaderboards are a tad more interesting now.
