Inform the players on this site? Yes, then of course you shouldn't be forced to use Facebook.

Have interaction of existing players as a cheap form of advertisement to people not (yet) on this page.
Then Facebook is an easy way to do so. And if those announcements were done both here and on Facebook then less people would contribute to advertising bga. So thats why you have what is happening here.

That it is not too friendly to existing users goes without saying but eventually we all gain from it when bga gets bigger

there are much better social media choices.facebook is the worst.it is a platform for advetising..no control over the flood of irrevant content.
