horaires de jeu (tour par tour)

Post by barraie »

Bonjour,
Merci

How are you starting your games?

From the old PLAY NOW lobby: https://boardgamearena.com/lobby

Or from the game page: https://boardgamearena.com/gamepanel?ga ... leofdelphi

There are problems using the game pages, especially if you are flexible with any of the speed settings.

C'est très bizarre, il se modifie tout seul. Je viens de créer une table il y a 30 minutes. L'horaire a déjà été modifié deux fois...

That is very worrisome. I had always hoped that we could avoid this kind of trouble by using the Play Now lobby.

I recently saw a game started by someone in my timezone with hours from 1am to 1pm. I wonder if they were affected by the same bug.

Try to take some screenshots when it happens and post them here. Hopefully BGA can track down the source of this problem and fix it.

Edit: I'm looking at your "Rats of Wistar" game in the Play Now lobby, and I can also see the hours have changed from before.

You confirmed that you use the Play Now lobby, but are you using Manual or Automatic?

Can you describe exactly how you are creating the table? In particular, if you're using "Play Now" as you have said you are, what are the three menus across the top set to? e.g. "Simple Game / Turn-Based / Automatic"?

If you are using Automatic, how are the hours configured under the "gear" icon for the game in question? (e.g. "okay for playing hours starting at 9,10,11h; 'prefer not' for 8h and noon; 'reluctant' for 7h and 13h, and 'never' for everything else). [Note that playing hours are always 12 hour stretches so you don't need to include the end times]

If you are using Manual, are you creating the table or joining somebody else's? If you're creating the table, what options are you using? etc etc etc.

Assuming you are in Pacific time, that's quite normal. When starting a game from the Game page ("new lobby"), the default playing hours are 9a-9p Paris time regardless of where they are. Somebody who doesn't note that, or chooses "flexible" playing speed on that page can end up in a fast turn-based game with hours that are wildly wrong for them. If you are on the west coast of Canada, those hours would indeed be 1a-1p (for this week only, as European summer time ended a week before ours does; next week the default hours would be midnight-noon for Canada's west coast).

In contrast, the default playing hours for Automatic on Play Now are centered around 10a-10p for the user's timezone, one of many many reasons the "new lobby" is still terrible.

Alright, I will cling to the faint hope that the Play Now lobby is still working correctly.

Incidentally, the west coast of Canada has stopped changing clocks starting this autumn. Edited to correct wording without further derailing thread. Link contains all information that I know about this topic.

Well, stopped changing the clocks, you mean. So BC is staying on UTC-7 in contrast to WA, OR, CA who will move (back) to UTC-8 next weekend. "Permanent DST", as they say.

What are they going to call it? It's not PST anymore, but calling it PDT seems wrong given that it's the new standard time...
