Getting ads for a gambling site?

Post by Kuolema »

As the title says, I opened up BGA and got a pop-up advertising "400 free spins" or something. I stared at it for a few moments because it didn't have any outside branding on it and it appeared to be part of the BGA UI, not a seperate pop-up window or obvious ad. Plus I use an ad-blocker so I didn't really think it was an advertisement.

Certainly "400 free spins" seemed like a perplexing thing to see coming from BGA, but I clicked on it to see if that would clarify things and was then of course taken to some gambling site.

Reloaded the site and got the same pop up.

What's going on BGA?

Considering how much the subscription cost has gone up over the years, seeing these advertisements is probably going to get me to cancel

Yes, if this is not a mistake I will definitely not be renewing.

Came to the forums about this. I thought maybe bga was hacked. If this is legit I'm going to seriously rethink my subscription when it expires

Calm down. My guess is it is probably a new issue or change with the ad network and maybe they can reconfigure it or tell the ad network to fix it. I've always gotten the impression that they don't want to be associated with gambling, so they probably dislike this happening as much as you.

They may not be aware that it is happening yet so you can let them know, politely, at support@boardgamearena.com.

Also, you can turn off the ads if you wish under your settings (Update My Information), then Advanced:

"Display banners
Banners help BGA attract more game publishers. You can disable them if you are supporting BGA as a Premium member."
