Arena points scoring?

Is there an explanation of arena scoring for Heat?

A few times in the last several games, I finished second, gained 5-10 Elo, but did not get an arena shield point. Yesterday, I finished 2nd ahead of RazorOz (highlight of my career), gained 16 whole Elo points, but only one shield. My most recent game is another example, played 10/28/2026, game #939125976.

Judging from other times, one arena shield is about 5-7 points, but it's not clear when you get one, when two or three, and when none at all.

All I know is, if I finish last, even if I only lose a few Elo points, I lose 3 arena points.

Not sure how shield scoring works, other than it's showing you how close you are to the next tier. The thing to bear in mind is the main thing is your Arena score which is basically another ELO, you are still earning it while not in Elite, you just can't see it until you're in Elite league. Your Arena score resets for at the start of every season, and because it's the start of a new season, I'm not ranked much different to anyone else, thus why you're getting much less Arena points for beating me than ELO.

I know I played you yesterday, and I took first and you took second. I saw your comment in the chat, but you left before I finished my reply. That was only my second Arena game of the season. So while my ELO was higher than yours allowing your ELO to increase. My score in this season of Arena was very low. While I dont know how Arena scoring works if its ELO based Im guessing your score took a significant hit there, not made up by finishing ahead of the other two players.

Maybe that's what it is - the arena points are sort of based on arena scores of players at the table. When I don't get an arena point for 2nd place, it seems like it's because there are some Bronze league players (I'm in silver). But when everyone is more equal, 2nd gets a point.

I was hoping someone knew the exact formula, but the main thing is, it doesn't seem to be tied to your overall Elo but more to the arena progress.
