As personal tier lists and analyses of the characters are quite widespread it’s very common for players, even at low ELO, to always pick and/or exclude the same fighters in the draft. I empathize with this behavior (who would deliberately leave the upper hand to the opponent in these impersonal online matches with our ELO points and win streaks at stake?) but I find it a pity that many “on average less performing” characters are never played with/against. What about setting up an alternative game mode, parallel to the drafts we already have, where the fighters for the players are randomly sorted?
With that modality, which I would expect to be inevitably more niche compared to the drafts, we could have the possibility to have more relaxed games where we don’t need to worry about optimization because we choose to submit to randomness as we open a table (it may make sense to switch off ELO for that modality, but I don’t care and should anyway be subject of debate if this option would be implemented for real).
It would be of course very easy to implement, I want to scout if there could be interest in it. I’m just curious, am I the only one to suffer the draft coercion to pick the top-tier character and to wish for more varied games?
