Why are you guys friends with the abusive players

Post by syrupycrumpet »

You know who they are:
-Nazghul-
Silentprotest
LeGrenoblois
Denksportdocent
MissErdbeer
Fafuriosa

Why does this community tolerate their abuse? They ruin arena for their partners, they say ugly things and their "friends" (Onyx especially) just watch and allow it. It's toxic and sad, because tichu is so fun but BGA has zero repercussions for the bullies that are always online.

On top of that, most of these players have numerous accounts. -Nazghul- plays and trash talks players between that account and "onlyTichu". Then lies about it.

I strongly feel that other players who have been treated poorly by these players (and others) need to start reporting and red thumbing to clean up the community a little. And moderation rules need to be stricter.

Since you mentioned my name I will answer you.

People that are friends with me, like me, they like me as a player, they can take my humorous side with a laugh and we can talk about the game since we all enjoy playing it.

You call me abusive, if I get into a table with "good" players that take arena seriously and not like a joke as many of my partners have done in the past, then I wouldn't have this "abusive" reputation. Do you know how hard it is for me to keep myself from complaining if my p starts to troll me and starts GTing when I GT ? OR when he doesn't play his card to block an opponents 1-2 and his excuse is "it did not matter". There are people that take arena as a joke, with no seriousness, these types of people make me talk at that moment. Many of the competitive arena players or game gurus as they call us wanna have a change of how arena works and the entry requirement for it to not have to deal with people like that, I am just the guy who expresses myself more publicly.

When I first started playing on BGA. I did not know back then people are SO sensitive when you tell them something. Since then I believe I have improved by a lot and don't talk bad to people. The only thing I sometimes do is ask my partners why they did that when they could have just played better. Maybe it is harsh or abusive as you say but what is the point of having a chat table if we aren't allowed to chat?
If chat is a problem I can help anyone that wants to add a CSS to their profile and they can remove chat completely.

Also BGA's system of moderating, well I will leave that to the public if its fair / unfair.

Numerous accounts I do not have. I made some "new" accounts it is true only because when I get reported in comparison with other players, instead of getting -10 karma points for a minor offense I can drop down to -45 karma points. Do you know how unfair that is for me? Imagine playing competively in arena top10 and suddently get reported for 1 word and go down to 45% karma then can't enter arena until you reach back to 75%.

People have made new accounts numerous times, I do not see what's the problem with it as long as you are not kingsmaking or abusing some sort of system.

Also there are players that have blocked me on Nazghul with only 1 game played against me and only because they heard rumors in the start when I did not really know much about the site which in my opinion is unfair, I played with them in "new" account and we had no problem whatsoever.
To mention a few, I will write them down publicly because I wish they will unblock me and we can play games together. Pako, lock, simu, astropurpurea, GrandSmurf, zeezee, Paumenn.

Also it is really ironic someone that made a "new" account came and made a forum post.

At the end of the day, tichu is just a game, I know, and lately I just move on after losing a game. I always say Gg to my opponents and Thanks for the game as sportmanship.

I will also leave something here since it is related to the person behind this post:

Image

Imagine playing a 41 minute game, this person enters your game in the last round, hasn't watched any of it and writes in the chat this thing then comes on the forums and write about you.

Have a great day.

Not sure about the list, but I'd really play a silent arena. No chat. Would be probably better. Most of the chat is trash talking anyway...
I try to mute it most of the time (unfortunately, you can't do that, plus people do not expect it (would be better if they could)).

Anyway we all know nothing will be done, so the other option is to not play it :|

you go to sounds in your profile and mute the sounds. and if you add this on your CSS you can disable the chat completely.

1st abusive is a bit much, dont you think?!
2nd how did erdbeer and fafu get on that list ?? xD
3rd BGA does superagressive moderation - the fact that your (presumed) tons of reports do nothing, says a lot actually
4th I guess Ill repeat my "toxic" thing again for you in the forum: for some are horrible players in arena way WAY worse what anythign you could say in chat. And lots of players and "gurus" that would like to change access to arena, since some casual/bad players obv. see the whole arena thing differently, just dont get the tools for it by bga, and can only discuss it on the guru site without anything ever happening...

and last... seriously now, maybe this is not the right platform to project your childhood and teeny trauma on... dont you think ?

PS: How do you know about Nazghul and onlyTichu, when you only played vs the 3rd account twice ?? - you are quite sus yourself... :D

It depends very much on the table, no?
A lot of chat I get is adjusting to new partner playstyle, esp. if youre playing for first time. Then there is ranting about things, sometimes mixed up with just friendly banter. And then, funnily, there is quite wholesome chat^^ (In probability/amount order from my POV at least)

Never heard it bothers you uncle :\ but a serious solution suggestion is actually do deactivate table chat.
You could use uBlock origin, element picker mode for it. Or you could ask Jesmurf to post a userfriendly guide, on how he deactivated it. hope that helps^^

I know I can tweak css (and never have sound anyway). But people are not aware you are not listening.
Hence, not doable.

you could post something like "chat will be disabled for me form here on" after the usual "Good luck and Have fun" (?)

Sure it does. I've seen people been so "rude" to their partners I even proposed to call the game off.
It did kill the fun out of the game, and I think for all but one. And I also see names that means a great game WHATEVER the result.

Tichu is still the only game where I block people from time to time.
Not sure there is such a thing as a Tichu community, but if there is, it really has its lows.

I may very well end up with something like that :)
