I've noticed in the last several games I've played, many (most?) other players are offering clues based on the starting letter of their word, rather than making a real attempt at offering clues based on the word's meaning. Or they'll make an attempt at giving some clue words based on meaning, and then do arbitrary word or words below that happen to start with the same letter as their word. There's no real motivation to look at the meaning clue. You can just find the starting letter that matches.
I don't see anything in the rules that say you can't do that. But it doesn't make for a very interesting game. I guess it's allowed though?
