Suggestions

Post by spinphd »

I have a few suggestions that I would like to mention, as well as get out gamers thoughts on.

1.) ELO Reduces After Not Playing another"Master" Over Certain Timeframe I have noticed that once certain players get to the #1 rank, they will either stop playing that game or they won't play any other master level players in order to protect their ranking. I think players, especially the #1 ranked player, should be required to play another Master player ever once in a while otherwise they lose some ELO. For example, they must play one Master every 48 hours or they lose 10 ELO points.

2.)Browser tab shows when someone joins your table When I create a table and waiting for people to join, I often time open another tab on my browser and surf the internet until someone joins. The problem is that I have to keep going back and forth to make sure someone hasn't joined the table. It would be nice if the tab for the game would be able to change to say "player joined" or "game about to start." The tab already changes when it's your move, or when it's someone else move, but not during this part.

3.) Restrict games so people you give thumbs down cant join I recently had a person that I had previously given a thumbs down to try and join a game I created. I only give thumbs down when players leave before the game is finished. I know I could expel them, but it would be nice to simply have an option to block them so they can't join your table at all.

4.) Remove Thumbs Downs When Player Is Inactive I've been given three thumbs down since I joined. For each time, there was no reason for the person to give me a thumbs down other than they were mad they lost. My assumption is that these aren't players that will or have lasted long in this community. I think if they are no longer active players, those thumbs downs should be able to be removed.

5.) Prevent players from restricting players in there same level. This is similar to the first one, but I oftentimes see players only wanting to play bad players and sometimes even restrict other people that are there same level. For example, if you're and expert you should have to keep the table open to experts as well. Not just people that are beginners or average.

#5 was recently changed so this should no longer be an issue. If people are still able to do this, then it is a bug.

Thanks for these suggestions. #2 is supposed to be fixed too : the title of the tab is updating when "game is going to start".

That's great, I didn't realize that but glad it was fixed.

I don't believe it is fixed. It does say "game is going to start" once you click "start game" and waiting for them to accept. The instance I'm talking about is the step just before that. For example, when I create a game (In my case it's a two person game) I am waiting for someone to join. Once they do join, the tab doesn't change until you click "start game"

These are good suggestions.

I like the first suggestion, but instead of every 48 hours, I'd change it to something like every 30 days (and the game between Masters should have ELO on). 48 hours is too short since not everyone logs onto the site that frequently. This does become tricky with games that don't have many Masters (there's even some games that don't have any at all) - instead of requiring that a Master play another Master, s/he could be required to play someone who is in the Top 5% of best ranked players.

With regards to number 2, I keep the sound on so that I hear when someone joins or when the game is about to start.

I like suggestion number 3; however, this would change the anonymous aspect of giving red thumbs. A person you gave one to could try to join your table, and if she's forbidden to join, she''ll know you gave her a red thumb. I personally don't have a problem with this, but others might. If someone I've red thumbed joins my game, I expel the person. I made the mistake of letting a person I red thumbed before play a game I created, and he was absolutely rude and insufferable, which reminded me why I disliked him in the first place.

There's a thread on here about changing the current green/red thumb system and whether or not moderators should remove unfair red thumbs.

I very much want this to be an option.
