I'm sure they think that people who queue for Arena and leave the page suck too.
No skin off their nose. Can't always sit for 10 minutes staring at a screen and doing nothing.

Re: Auto Start in Arena Mode?

Just further on this, have notifications on new games starting disappeared? Twice today I have sat for 10 minutes waiting for a game and each time I've not been actively watching the screen for just a minute or two I have been penalised for missing games. Also, people who expel you rather than mutua...

Is playing first an advantage?

Because you get to play more tiles?

Seems to me it's an enormous advantage.
Why doesn't everyone get the same number of turns?

Doesn't anyone else think the sudden-death finish is a terrible rule?

Re: Explain ELO?

Thanks.

"When you win consecutively against the same opponent on a game, your ELO gains will gradually reduce. This encourages you to compete against as many players as possible."

That's pretty silly in arena mode when you don't choose opponents.

Explain ELO?

Can anyone explain how ELO changes after each game are so different in this pairing, especially the last 3?

Re: Streaks and patterns?

Thanks GitB - interesting and useful comments in there. Re random walk - I would say that is not appropriate for this game even with its luck element. Nevertheless they're no doubt that there is something bizarre in the randomisation. You don't go from 15th to 500th in a day or 22nd to 800th in a da...

Re: Streaks and patterns?

Then I'll refer you to the dozens of other "something's fishy about the RNG because streaks like this never happen with real dice/cards" threads. In particular, look at the one in the backgammon sub-forum where someone claimed something NEVER happens with real dice and I provided the log ...

Re: Streaks and patterns?

My suspicion is that some aspects of the random-generating component may exacerbate that. Then I'll refer you to the dozens of other "something's fishy about the RNG because streaks like this never happen with real dice/cards" threads. In particular, look at the one in the backgammon sub-...

Re: Streaks and patterns?

This game is swingy and there's only so much you can do about it. The current peak ELO is 505. Compare it with the peak ELO in a game with 0 randomness. Those games have peak ELOs in the 800s or 900s, and one I found over 1000. When there's no randomness, the skill edge will always dominate. When r...

Re: Streaks and patterns?

So to simplify, the question is just, do other people experience these dramatic swings in fortune with this game?
