another gap question

i got clued whites, knowing my 1 as playable https://plain-eeur-prod-public.komododecks.com/202607/16/xKZXaKzVe3FZEB4wv3tp/image.png Gemmy responded with k5 after my w1, and in my opinion that's it - the bluff is revealed, there was no gap for somebody to guarantee a layer. but I was called a noob a...

Re: can there be a way for beginners to learn how to play with the way other people do?

while it can be very useful (and I used it myself when learning), be wary that it describes H-Group convention, while BGA mostly uses (Layered) Finesse. there is a lot of overlap, but also some differences: for example we don't have Chop-Focus with color on BGA. but go with it, you'll get corrected ...

Re: 2 player ELO level separation

Let me paraphrase the topic of this conversation: Doea the esteemed bga community belie that the conventions of 2p and 3+p versions differ enough that a Master 2player cannot demonstrate the expected level of cooperation? And similarly, a Master 3+player cannot follow the existing 2p conventions? An...

Re: 2 player ELO level separation

my issue is not with ELO itself, but with different conventions of 2p and 3+p variants: e.g. 2p Masters bombing reverse finesses, ignoring layers etc - they simply don't have such concepts and are not used to it. Happened too many times already.

Re: 2 player ELO level separation

The difference between 3p and and 4-5p is minor, while 2p is indeed a separate game with different conventions - arguably finesse, layered finesse etc make little sense for it. They save 2s. They have special rules to avoid double discard and so on. So yes, I'd prefer to see 2 different game entries...

2 player ELO level separation

pretty sure many of us have met Master level players who have achieved it playing 2p games, but play 3+ player games at Strong level at best - in this case level filter for tables is useless. the easiest solution I can think of is to split hanabi into 2 different games: Hanabi 2p and Hanabi 3+p. wha...

Re: Hanabi 10000+ games masters have some common problems

Lol of course everyone can make mistakes, the important thing is whether they own them. Grandmaster once blind played for a save clue in my game and blamed the player for skipping instead of admitting it. And obviously he ruined your game on purpose because his clue wasn't understood I guess. But he...

But yeah, "Grandmaster" is notorious for his playstyle, don't be fooled by his username

Re: Hanabi 10000+ games masters have some common problems

The conventions are simple: sensible clues, no early saves, good touch principle. It may look to you that they bomb for no reason but they are simply reacting to the clues you give
