Board Game Arena

Is there a way to make the settings so I prefer these variations? I end up playing them sometimes but seems random. If I'm initiating game can I set to that? I only see where I can say I don't want them not that they are my first choice. Thanks

Can someone point me to how the stars/points are determined after you win or lose a game. Not looking for scoring during the game but for how the "ranking" points get assigned. Seems like a huge difference each time and so far seems random
