Re: Flamboyants are not a good part of the game.

Thanks for your post! On the substance, you're clearly right: flamboyants are counter to the philosophy of hanabi (only randomness is shuffle), and have contributed to dumbing down of bga hanabi @tango agree the game remains interesting by avoiding lost games, but solve for the equilibrium! "1/...

Re: List of other conventions sets used online

On 6), sieve principle seems related to Smallman's point #2: 2. 2nd most important is that when given a 5 clue, first thought should be that you need to save all cards on the chop side of that 5 (except on very first clue of game). There will be many situations where you need to save more than 1 car...

Re: Convention 2p game : clue 2 first

I'm happy to stall if I receive chop clue. Otherwise my intuitive sense is that gains from efficiency/ability to clue new cards outweighs any unlikely 1 2 4 5 4 hand you can dream up. Ofc can chop save 2 at any later point. There are no unlikely hands. Everything can be possible. And over many game...

Re: first clue in 2 player

I have a question: is it the convention to give an opportunity to clue twice? The assumption seems to be that once red or one is clued that the person will play it immediately. This not usually the case. Many people will be upset if you discard in the first four moves of a 2p game. I have had count...

Re: first clue in 2 player

+1 for r to open. it is much more flexible. can give 2/1/g to follow depending on draw. i feel ppl over-plan for the hand as-is, and under-rate the option value of draws. the leading example of this is ppl's desire to clue 2->1 if 2 doesnt match, when it is invariably more desirable to allow more dr...

Re: Leaving Hanabi when things are not perfect

I think the idea in this post (boardgamearena.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=102&t=17957) is a simple solution to this problem. If you can easily see who abandons a lot, you can avoid starting games with abandoners. I know there are many suggested fixes in this thread, but the key advantage of my sug...
