I have a similar frustration when I have clicked play now but then after waiting for a game and not finding one in time I deselect the button only to come back to my computer later to find I have been put into and expelled from a game I was no longer queuing for. An accept button would possibly help with that. For now I have to remember to actually close the browser rather than just deselecting the play now button.

The difference is that the first turn is already in the game, so you see who your opponents are, and you get an ELO penalty. The "accept screen" would happen before that, you wouldn't see your opponents, and you'd only get karma penalty. (And no excitement because the game is already starting, and no disappointment after you and 2 other players spend some time thinking and doing your first moves, only for the 4th player to timeout because they'd left the building.)
I think there should be an option to decline too, so you can stop waiting for an absent player even after less than a minute
I suggested no decline option to introduce fewer loophole opportunities. If you can't wait one minute to make sure the player is there, would you wait one minute for players to make their moves?

Probably for the common scenario you ignored: when the game takes ages to start and people have better things to do than continually keep tabs on the situation.

What is happening when it shows 1 player as waiting to accept? I can’t understand why some players would have the option to accept or cancel, while others do not. I’ve never seen an option to cancel in arena, once all players are matched & the countdown to game start begins.
