I can see that if people somehow started a Realtime game as unlimited that it would block them, but I never did this. When I set it to no time limit, it acted like a normal turn based game, with the longer timers.
I would be interested to see how people got this problem.
By starting a game via the old lobby, you get a list of first the realtime options, then the turn-based options and then without time limit. If you chose the last option (which is now out of function), a game without time limit was started as a turn-based game.
However, in some games (it happened to me once, but I can't remeber in which game), you have got the option without time limit at the end of the realtime options as well as at the end of the turn-based options. If you chose the first one, a game without time limit was started as a realtime game. This resulted in players being blocked, because you can't play 2 realtime games. These games where automatically stopped, if no one played for several hours.
I consider the option of "games without time limit started as a realtime game" as a bug, because it doesn't make sense at all. If this bug were corrected, we would have saved ourselves all this mess!

Language is a source of misunderstanding. (Antoine de Saint-Exupery: The Little Prince) But it is also the source of understanding - it all depends on how you use it.
