There are so many many reports about how awful it is to deal with others when playing Hanabi. I have never played it, but something about that game brings out the worst in too many people.
Sounds like it often adds stress to you life to play it. Do you get many times more joy out of it other times? If not, maybe the answer is to play some of the other 600+ options available here. Why open your life to unhappy experiences like this? How is this game worth that?
OR- find a few good Hanabi players and start a tournament for just you and don't play with strangers anymore.
That is what I do for Ticket To Ride. I don't like scarce resources games and many like to play that way. Better for me to just play with the few I like or not play than let that stress upset my world.
