Why not? It's not about who takes more time, but about who does not stay within the limits. If you mean someone who has gone into the red at some point, then I might agree.

On a sidenote, I've had people complain because I had expelled someone after I had the "cheek" of activating a holiday joker... Sure, I knew I could not play in time and used the joker, while the other player just ran out of time and expected us to ignore it. They could have used the joker, they chose not to, and god expelled.

but it should be. if someone plays every single turn to 1 second before the limit can kick someone out of a game that goes into red once the whole game, while playing a lot faster the whole game, something is seriously wrong.

im still really in favour of a "oh-shit"-button which adds half a minute to your timer once or twice a game.

The difference is someone who plays every turn within the limits is not "breaking the rules", while someone who runs out of time once is. As I said, it's not a matter of who takes longer or shorter time. You're given a certain amount of time and you're allowed to use it, all of it, if you want. But if you use more, you may be expelled.

In cycling races there can be a time cut: if you arrive after the time cut, you're disqualified. It doesn't matter if you're the winner of every other stage, if you're too late in the last one, you're disqualified. If you arrive always just one second before the time cut, you may continue (and you may win the race if everyone else is disqualified). It's not "unfair" because everyone knows the rule and it applies to everyone.

But BGA could change the rules right? So the whole argument about it being against rules would be invalid.

Exactly this. People seem to think those Rules are given by an omnipotent god and cant be Changes...

There is a feature available to the coder 'giveExtraTime()'
https://en.doc.boardgamearena.com/Main_ ... exion_time

Ark Nova is quite unique that the turn-time can vary wildly. Tzolkʼin occasionally had this kind of problem, but still no where near Ark Nova.

I think the major issue is that it doesn't work with the 'Undo' feature. So has abuse like issues with players perpetually undoing and never actually taking their turn and/or gaining unlimited thinking time.

But you're right you need the BGA gods to help you out here.

You can see a small discussion on the topic here:

In addition to a fixed time per move there should be a time bank of a few minutes per game that is used when your move timer runs out.

There is, it's just that it's already included in the counter. You start with more time than what you get every turn, and when you go red it means you've exhausted it.

I just experienced this for the first time. To say it enraged me would be putting it lightly. With the cruddy interface, some card’s especially sponsor cards almost being unable to play without that weird thing that happens in mobile happening, it is unplayable in live games.
