Arena - Impossible to Advance

Thank you for the pic! I would have never found that setting. For others who may be looking: First click on the "PLAY NOW" tab at the top of BGA, then select the ARENA mode from the drop-down menu near the top of the page, then click the gear icon next to the game you want, then at the bottom of the pop-up page click "advanced options", then you will see the option for "player's level" where you can choose what arena rankings you are ok to play against. The restriction on ELO of the opponent in normal ranked mode is easy to find, but it is not honored in arena mode (I am 150 ELO and getting matched against 400+ ELO in arena even tho I have narrow range of ELO selected).

So, I changed the options to select only players at a similar level but keep getting paired with Elite players when I am only Bronze. Any idea why?

It will try it's best to match you with your preferred levels, but it could be that there were no currently searching players in your level.

the option does nothing in arena mode sadly.

i kinda hate that too. im bronze currently. and only play vs elite players. i dont even remember the last time i played someone on my level

If you look earlier in this thread you can see how to filter arena opponent's so they are not very high rank against you. The setting is kind of hidden for Arena mode.

there is no such setting. at least it does absolutly nothing.


i constantly play elite players and im bronze. and i talked with some of them and a lot of them tell me, that they mostly play low elo players.

the arena mode in ark nova seems completly broken.

and it should be kinda impossible that everyone besides me is elite, because that should just not work out.. someone has to lose i guess..

It's theoretically possible for every single player to be elite, assuming at least 10 or so games played by each player. This is because there is no demotion, only promotion.

Remember that elite arena league does *not* necessarily mean the person has high ELO. I play a lot of cribbage, and many times as a bronze player get matched with an elite player who has almost the same ELO as I do. ELO is your lifetime ranking, while arena league is you season ranking.

However, I will acknowledge that what I just said is more likely to be true for a game like cribbage where there is quite a bit of luck. For games like Ark Nova with less luck and more skill, you would expect that a high arena league would also equate to a relatively high ELO...
