But what are the odds of you having 789 same color and 9 of other colour ? But I agree with you that that person should take the task of the colour's of 789 or even just 89. But besides that, it should there the task of the 9p who is solo.pjt33 wrote: ↑10 June 2024, 23:40In the scenario you describe, I don't think it was a mistake. The player with 9g almost certainly has a very strong hand, and has chosen to pass on a card they can easily allow someone else to win. It costs their comm, but only one trick at most to clear the problem. If they have 789 in another suit and someone is trying to win a task in that suit with the 6, it's a much bigger problem.Quarentenilo wrote: ↑10 June 2024, 05:50 if the g5 was chosen on the second round, then the mistake was 9g not picking up the 5g task.
Is a comm needed?

Re: Is a comm needed?
Don't entirely agree. Sure, 789 for a self-owned 6 task would be a bigger issue than the solo 9. But the 9 is practically certain to be an issue, albeit prob a minor one. While since you have the 789, the 6 task much more likely to be taken by someone planning to trump in or take off suit.pjt33 wrote: ↑10 June 2024, 23:40In the scenario you describe, I don't think it was a mistake. I agree. That's why I am telling from the beginning that the com is not needed because the choice of the tasks reveals much of the problem that was com with 9p only.Tuut Tuut tis Luut wrote: ↑11 June 2024, 03:25Don't entirely agree. A priori the odds are not high, but a posteriori it seems quite plausible. I've definitely had hands like that where my choice of tasks is conditioned primarily by what I think are the biggest obstacles to other people winning them. I think my strongest ever hand was blue 789, green 9, pink 1, yellow 89, rockets 134 (table 249406556, mission 19).Quarentenilo wrote: ↑11 June 2024, 02:13But what are the odds of you having 789 same color and 9 of other colour ? Oh it's plausible for sure. But ideally would not be anyone's preferred choice, especially if the 6 isn't also covered by several lower cards.pjt33 wrote: ↑11 June 2024, 10:29A priori the odds are not high, but a posteriori it seems quite plausible. It also leaves you with options to fix, since you have a void to throw off on once you've played your 9. While starting with the solo 9 means you likely won't have many, if any options to discard the 9 off suit if the need arises.

If someone wants to play turn based with me: feel free to invite me. After almost 4 years, I still love this game.

Re: Is a comm needed?
To a certain extent I agree that it depends on the level of the players, but it only really makes a difference if they’re pretty low. I’d expect moderately experienced players to know that a no comm means I can play under the 9 and still get the 5 on the next go around.
