I've been having an issue for months where the forums take forever (in Internet time) to load, e.g., 2.3 min. Possibly there is a caching issue, because, for example, I see in the Chrome waterfall that the asset tournoi_gameicon/memoir.png (the forum thumbnail for Memoir 44) took 2.3 minutes to load. The timing tab for that row of the waterfall shows that the request for that asset was queued at 2.6 s and it "started" at 19.99 s, but it was stalled for 48.62 s. Strangely, the "size" column for this asset is "(disk cache)" which to me suggests that it should have been coming from my cache, not from the BGA server, so I'm not sure what is causing the delay and how to interpret what I'm seeing.
I've noticed it only happens when I've been away for a while, and when it is stalled the browser says "waiting for boardgamearena.com." But if I've been browsing topics and return to the top level forum, it is much faster (around 10 s or less), and in those cases it says "waiting for r.boardgamearena.net" instead. The big problem is that when things are stalled for two minutes, all of my browser windows/tabs get frozen, not just the one BGA is in.
Unfortunately, there are hundreds of these thumbnail icons that are getting stalled this way, even for games that I've never played, presumably because those games' sub-forums are loaded first, then suppressed to only show games I've played.
There may be other information in there that will make sense to savvy IT types. For example, I see in the query string for the asset request the argument "dojo_preventCache=1702902848012" but I don't know if 1) this icon is or isn't actually being cached, and 2) if not, whether this argument is preventing it from being cached.
Any guidance will be greatly appreciated.
P.S.: I have this capture saved as a .har file, so I can provide any stats from there that will be useful in diagnosing this problem.
Ed.: I have forwarded this to support.
