That's what the turn timer is for. People are allowed to use their full timer on their turn, and the undo button doesn't add any extra time. If they want to spend that time visualizing, or spend that time clicking the pieces to see what would happen, that doesn't ultimately change the game.

Undo exists because misclicks happen. The only argument I could see for getting rid of it is if someone wants to win by their opponent making misplays, instead of by making better plays. If that is your preference BGA isn't going to change their undo settings to accommodate.

Ideally, all dos and undos a player makes should be invisible to the other player(s) until the move is confirmed. That way you can't know if your opponent is using undo, and have no insight into their thought process.

It is really annoying that I can not disable undo for both players since it really slows down the game :(

Azul is a quick game and at the end this will make me do not want to play it any more.

Do you have any evidence that it "really slows down the game" or is your argument "just trust me bro"?

The turn timer sets the pace of the game not the undo function

IMHO - it slows the game down and makes it less fun/skillful. I think of Azul much more like chess and enjoyed being able to turn confirm off as part of the game settings.
Highly agree, plus those who use it to troll their opponents by taking and undoing several times in a row. I hate the undo feature, it's abused way more than it is used to undo an honest mistake. How about we compromise by giving a max of three undos per game?

That's a sure-fire way to get mobile players to boycott the game.

It slows the game down because players will make a move early in the timer and then just let the timer expire instead of clicking finish move.

Bangla wrote: 10 July 2024, 14:18 The trouble is, I can't stop my opponent from using it, which is what should happen for BOTH players if this feature is disabled. Being able to visualise what happens when you choose a tile is a skill, just as much as analytical thinking. In ftf games, we always rule that once a piece is touched, you must take it/them. No different to chess.
Semi-relevant: US tournament rules for Chess are clock, not touch. You can touch every one of your pieces, and you are not required to move them. You can even move pieces, move them back, move a different piece, and so on*. It's not until you've made a legal move and pressed the button on the turn timer that it's cemented.

International/EU uses the touch rule.

* You don't usually see people doing this, because it would give opponents some insight into your thought processes.
I get what you're saying but then equally by that logic, as BGA is a French Website, and Azul is a German game, we should therefore by default be playing this game with more EU / Intl orientated rules rather than US stylised ones, as the default. Which should have made undos an optional add in rather than the other way around (and now of course you can't host a game at all with undos removed, only can set the option for oneself).

I like that idea - no one should be making multiple 'honest mistakes' within one game.

Probably would reduce it to two rather than three though, due to the length of Azul being a relatively short game.
