Right, so people who do not play a season because they don't like the settings will be forever excluded.
So you are saying those people who doesn't even participate in the current season that they voted for, deserves more for a guru spot more than the ones who compete? They knows the best arena format than the players who played in it? How would they know what's best for arena, if they haven't even compete in the current one? They just know? Those forever 100 elo solo game players just know what's the best arena format right? Surely they didn't play the game, because they love it so much, and all knowing, they don't even bother to compete in arena, but hey let their infinite wisdom decide how other player compete in arena.

What about having the top 100 elo player as the gurus in the community then? Are you going to say: "Oh they only play the game at the highest level, they don't deserve to be a guru, they don't know the game."

No, I'm not saying that they deserve more, I'm saying that they deserve the same. Participation in a particular season should not be a factor. And elo ranking should not be a factor.

It's not the same, they are taking guru spots, and the actual competitors don't even have a vote. Top 100 elo guru pool would fix the imbalance, you are making non-statements.

Jellby, you're not even playing TFM so I'm not sure why you need to express a view. Clearly the current system isn't working regarding setting gurus for this game as the players who want to compete are getting little or no say in the design.

What would be very good, in my opinion, would be if the current gurus were published and visible to everyone, then at least there could be a discussion with them and the wider community.

It does seem like the Guru set up is a bit weird. Top of arena should be included as long as they active imo. I was Guru on Arnak for a while and I never even played arena (!? \shrug). Best wishes.

Because it's just ridiculous that players like me are not included. People who actually participate in arena should decide the next season.

Right now most guru doesn't even vote, 20 to 30 votes in total per category decides the next season when I was a guru.
You're not a guru now? How is that even possible? I understand that ELO and arena rank don't count, only activity. But you've played a ton of games and continue to play a lot. It doesn't make any sense. This system is even worse than I thought. By the way, I didn't play a single game in arena in season 17, but I was still a guru and participated in the voting for season 18.
With this system, arena will forever remain 3p. In the voting for season 19, the 3p+prelude option won. 2p got negative rating :(

Could you elaborate what you think should be a factor? As Arena Mode's definion is "major competitive mode" who would be better suited to vote for the rules if not the active competitors and generally skilled players?

Presumably he's in favor of the status quo, which is simply: number of games played period. Personally I think this is fine as well. Maybe some elo / ranking criteria would be appropriate too, but regardless, if it were simply number of *arena* games played, then the system would be vulnerable to getting stuck in settings where some players really like it, but most don't, so they refuse to play and thus never get a vote to change the settings.

As it stands the rest of us who don't like 3p TFM can at least play regular ranked games without worrying about Arena until it someday (if ever) swaps to 2p, then it's game time!

For my part, I wanted to suggest to the gurus who do vote: Preludes!! I can't imagine why anyone would not like preludes. I also prefer 2p. Oh well. I never arena anyways because of my predilection of 2p prelude. Best wishes.

I played around 125 games in this season. So that's less than one and half daily game played. I don't play too much, b/c I am consistent and have very little time for gaming. TM guru system is broken, hopefully future fixes would address the problem. I suggest top 100 elo instead of top 100 most game played. That way, both arena and none arena players would be properly represented in deciding formats.

Top 100 elo guru pool also allow players with less gaming time like myself be better represented, it's just simply superior. Especially considering the elo system improvement by decaying dormant player's elo over time.

I just sent in my Guru system suggestion, please give it an upvote and comments so BGA would consider a change: https://boardgamearena.com/bug?id=140954
