I personally think its just part of the game. Is it annoying? Usually. However freely sharing hidden information is not against the game rules. This means players are free to share information about their hands and can even lie about what they personally took or discarded at some point in the game. When i play in person or with my friends on discord we usually over share whats going around in hopes of people not passing game winning cards to players ahead/or great synergy. (ie Passing Saturn Systems Jovian point cards. We wont name them because we want the person to guess what it was or not play like its gone but will say "there is a card there you shouldnt pass to the next person.". Usually we try to not send Jovian tags to Saturn at all but definitely usually pass up good to decent cards to deny them point cards.). Also usually in my experience if both player are trying to hate out AGT they pass you other game winning cards so its fine. Luck plays a huge role in mars left not forget this.

Lol wut? You should know better. Exposing any kind’ve information is unfair and ruins the game.RoyalRook wrote: ↑03 October 2024, 23:24I guess that's why people don't do it and it's looked down on. I actually have yet to experience it on BGA, which is really nice. It's part of the game though, since it's table talk not private chat, so the information is open. And in board game, I think more table talk is better for gaming in general.

It's not pleasant, but not unfair. What, you can't handle it? You are going to tape people's mouth shut and lock up their chat? As long as it's open information, it's part of the game. Just know you may going to pay for it in the long term if you do it, especially if you run into the player again. Table talk is part of table top gaming since the beginning of time. It's also how the real world functions, there is no smooth sailing and everyone leaves you alone, tough up, get gud and just win no matter what.HappyMeaI wrote: ↑11 October 2024, 03:04Lol wut? I dunno man, even in physical boardgame sessions a little bit of table talk and chatting can be fine, after all we're not robots just sitting there in silence for 2 hours and it's meant to be a social experience, but anything too detailed or specific comes across as either whiny or other-player-coaching or against the spirit of the game IMO.
Online if you do too much of that I would not want to play with you again, personally.

So you are saying is that you want 3-5p games to function exactly like 2p, and if there is some mind game going on, or god forbid 3D chess going on, that's too much for you, right? I got you man. You be all you can be.brh2113 wrote: ↑11 October 2024, 17:48 I dunno man, even in physical boardgame sessions a little bit of table talk and chatting can be fine, after all we're not robots just sitting there in silence for 2 hours and it's meant to be a social experience, but anything too detailed or specific comes across as either whiny or other-player-coaching or against the spirit of the game IMO.

Look I want all the game to be pleasant, so I don't do cut throat stuff like sharing draft info, more honestly, it's not needed for me to win here, but my position is that it's fair game, I won't be happy about it if it's done to me, but I am not going to be too offended by it as long as it's open info.

Hmm maybe you don’t quite understand? I am all for table talk (banter, trash talk, needling, bluffing, socializing) but like poker, TFM is a game of imperfect information. So if someone shares a card that they discarded, just as in poker, that will affect your strategy and give you an edge depending on your engine. I generally know which cards are left and odds of a meme card like SFL being able to hit, or the odds of hunting and drawing a powerhouse like AGT. So many times a game has come down to whether or not villain is still holding onto Zeppelins or AGT, Deimos etc. and if you’re aware they’ve been discarded and the deck hasn’t reshuffled you can plan accordingly.RoyalRook wrote: ↑11 October 2024, 17:56So you are saying is that you want 3-5p games to function exactly like 2p, and if there is some mind game going on, or god forbid 3D chess going on, that's too much for you, right? This is just my view on giving out information about the cards you’re holding, and as a high level player I think you’d agree. It’s not the same just table talk. I can’t see this being acceptable
In any competitive format.
Re: PSA: Do not tell in all chat what you hand over in draft!
I find trying to discuss what's 'acceptable' to be a hilariously pointless exercise. Do the game rules allow table talk? Do BGA rules allow it? If so, anyone hoping to ban table talk should be proposing a social contract, which would need to be mutually agreed upon the parties participating in it. I think this thread, started with "Public Service Announcement', is woefully mislabelled. It sounds more like 'someone hurt my feelings and I want to vent about what happened'.

Table talk and telling everyone what other players have in their hand is not the same thing.

Citation please? Or... just sharing an opinion?happy-smile wrote: ↑16 October 2024, 10:30 Table talk and telling everyone what other players have in their hand is not the same thing.
(Srsly, don't the rules allow you to freely say anything you want about the cards you see? ... .. .)
Best wishes.

Where I’m from, that’s called cheating. And no, cheating is not acceptable.Yahyra wrote: ↑16 October 2024, 13:57Citation please? Or... just sharing an opinion?happy-smile wrote: ↑16 October 2024, 10:30 Table talk and telling everyone what other players have in their hand is not the same thing.
