TM Season 18 Complete Card Ranking: https://github.com/RuneDK93/terraformin ... /cards.txt

I know it’s corp era top down view without context, but I think I got so much better by just studied the ranking couple times for the past few days. So thank you Glados once again. Let’s all talk about the ranking. Maybe I should reevaluate earth catapult and at least appreciate how ice cap truly impact the game for terraformers. How would you rank the cards?

Because it's just ridiculous that players like me are not included. People who actually participate in arena should decide the next season.

Right now most guru doesn't even vote, 20 to 30 votes in total per category decides the next season when I was a guru.
Problem with this is, that the current arena rules aren't conducive to "arguably" the best competitive way to play. So people who don't want to play that way, don't even get a say. A lot of people want to play Arena, but don't merely because of how it's set up.

2 player format is too high variance among comparable skill levels. Boring.

What we need are separate arenas for real-time and turn-based. They are two different formats and the latter is much easier in terms of getting to the top of any arena. The player pool is bigger, more casual, and you are able to calculate every decision with no pressure.

3p is F2, 2p is F1. Real and turn based formats are the same, about the same stress since you have to play a higher level in turn based because EVERYBODY has more time to calculate. The world doesn't just involve you sir, classic forest and trees situation. Just chattering no disrespect.

One more thing I want to say is this: to be successful here at TM arena, you can do either real time or turn based arena games. And it is truly a gift because what a wonderful and thriving community we have here at TM BGA scene, that other communities like Arc Nova never established or probably never will foster(only other one I observed comes close is the terra mystica community, but we are talking about one of the best of best board game community now, our TM community is the best, check out terraforming mars other online communities they are amazing). So take advantage of it, and enjoy the game. This is the best time to learn and play TM.

But it's already high in 3P as well. Too many inexperienced players rushing milestones or swinging awards to decide who is going to win when they come 3rd. (or maybe I misunderstood what you meant here by variance, but still, 2P is the format to go with)

I agree with you reuna, but he's saying that 2p games between equally skilled players are decided by luck of the draw. To an extent that's true, but there's still a lot of skill involved in playing those odds, timing when to buy awards, timing when to game end, etc.

As you say what is far more annoying is a weak 3rd player swinging the outcome between two strong players without even realizing. At the moment we can't choose the players to play with in Arena so this will always be a problem. Hence 2p leads to more competitive game play.

Agreed at times 3P can swing the game in either direction, but that should be accounted for in your strategy. What I mean is that the ceiling for this game isn’t that high. So with a 215 card deck one player can play the same player for 20 games and win all 20 in a row with slightly better card distribution. It only takes one card to completely break a HU match… like PH or AIC for example.

2P is the purest form and the most competitive format though. I think 3p is just the sweet spot.
