Anyone want to play Cat in the Box??? Trying to join in so I can vote, but it's impossible in this time limit. That's just the first of NINE new games I have to learn and play. I chose Cat in the Box first as I thought it would be quickest but have tried for 2 days to get a game started

I enjoyed voting for games, but I agree with other posters. Maybe the games up for awards should be posted a few months in advance, to give people plenty of time to play them.

I also feel that the awards are missing categories like best co-op, best engine builder, most playable for each skill level etc. I can see you made it only five to keep it easier, but it leaves many games out from the awards. If there are more categories people could choose whether they vote for each or not.

A joke reward. When more than 70 percent of players not going to eble to vote because you need to play everything in a category it's not a fair vote. It should instead be based on how much you have played a certain game to be able to vote on that. Because that is a game that you really like and would vote on regardless if you had play the other games or not in that category.

The votes was a joke last year and more this year when only a few "experts players" on this site can vote. Have been here and been a premium player for years. I can't vote because I play only a few games which I like. I'm not going to waste time with games I don't care about. But you seems to want to thin out the player base here.

If you only play a few select games then this voting is not really aimed at you. It is aimed at the people who play more broadly. You can vote for any category that you have played more than 4 games in. You do not have to vote for each category. If you do not like certain games then do not vote, it is not a sham to encourage people to try new games.

If you want to stick to a few games that is fine. As many people have posted; the issue is that they need to allow more time for people to play the selected games. Particularly in the categories they WANT to vote in. Whether or not you want to paetake or not is your choice.

It's such a mystery how/why you choose the nominees you've chosen. Why is Ark Nova not nominated for best animal themed game? It's one of the most popular games on here.

Because this is for 2024 releases and Ark Nova's release was in 2023 and Ark Nova already won Best Expert Game in last year's awards when it was actually eligible.

That makes sense, but I'm still confused why some 2024 releases were omitted (e.g. Odin is not one of the 4 options listed under casual games).

The thing is that I can't vote on a good game which deserves to win even if I played hundreds of games. That feels not fair. I think that if you have played atheist two of games you should be able to vote.

My guess would be that less than 1% of users have played all 4 games in 1 category.

My personal is 1 played game in all categories apart from 1 category, where I've played 2.

I think that may be low for the Casual category, but is probably spot on for the other categories. Not surprisingly, the only category where I've played all four is the Casual category where the investment of time in both learning and playing the game is the lowest. But I only played the fourth one last night, specifically to be eligible for that category. I'm glad I did, because now I think it is my favorite (of those four). I've only played two Regular games, and only one of each of the other categories.

But I still prefer this to last year where not only could you vote for something you hadn't even played, you were forced to vote for a category in which you'd played none of the games if you wanted to vote for anything at all. This year is not perfect, but it is an incremental improvement over that.

It seems like they are targeting the type of player who tries many of the new releases and doesn't only play things they already know, but they do not necessarily try all types of new releases.

This years system is better. But for sure needed a bit more time to try and play. For those really wanting that trophy. The 4 casual games can be easily learned and played very fast. Real time game very fast. Even the 4 regular games can be learned fairly easily and played also in real time.
