About your concern about the tournament's finale, I will transmit them to DoW. I quite agree on the fact that 2 players games on the US Map would have more sense as all qualifying process was with this format. But maybe the finalists themselves think otherwise ?

Only 4 players games all the tournament? Really bad news
For me the main problem with the 4 players games is that is very usual that one player must choice between 2 options that change the position of the other players, that is, one player wins for sure but depending on how he plays ( blocking, finishing quickly, taking the long road) the position of the rest of the players changes. The same can happen with one who is definitely last, but can choose who wins.
In friendly games there is no problem with this, but in a championship with a prize it can be very uncomfortable.

4P games seems kind of silly considering the BGA event was 2P.

This is by far the worst part of 4p games. When the fate of other players has to be decided by the winner, it's a bad thing, but when it has to be decided by the one who's gonna lose, it's truly terrible.

I love the 4P finals - this is just a part of the game! and it is not irrational like some of the comentators think. Its another kind of skill - there is more to this game than pure logic.
All those pure stretgic players here dont undertand that 4p-games are much more challenging and what u guys are calling "luck" is BS.

when i used to play Risk with my friends the best diplomat was the winner - i want to see this at TTR! Diplomatic Skills + Strategy makes a much more intense nad interesting game!

On the contrairy one coould even argue that 2p- games are much more of luck because of card luck being much more important...

Well considering that the format of the tournament on a single game every match was already a crapshoot, it is not that much worse to play 4ers in a finale.

The tournament is just not a world championship, it is just a tournament. I think some player, among them me, wanted something a bit more interesting competition wise, and more skilled driven. But it is what it is.

For the rest I am afraid you are wrong about the skills.

It just takes multiple games to create a hierarchy between players.

For multiplayer, you'd need over 50 games to show some kind of difference between skills, which is just not realistic for a tournament. With 2 players you can easily make a separation between 2 players within 3 games, and 7 would be enough between 2 good players. 2 players of similar levels should be playing a best-of 9/11.

Based on my experience it's exactly the opposite: in 2p you have chances to mitigate the bad luck of receiving a bad pair of tickets, while in 4p it's generally harder.

4p has of course skills involved and in the long run the best players win more, but as Sysyphus pointed out using different words, the variance is (much) higher. On a single game, the chances that the player who gets tickets in a part of the map not contested by the other three players will get a free win are high. I'm not a Risk expert, but I think it's similar to 4p Risk in this, since you like the analogy.
