If such safety reasons exist, then don't join public tournaments. As Meeplelowda has pointed out, private tournaments are still available.

I was very pleased (and surprised) that when I opened the Notification about an update to Release Summaries there were several tournament-related tweaks:
  • Added an options to prevent skipping players out of time during tournaments
  • Official tournaments that can be created by the publishers, that give more XP
  • XP for everyone at the end of the tournament (if the player did finish the tournament)

Hello everyone,

I wanted to participate in tournaments, but I was wondering if I could join one with no problem ? Because I can only start playing about an hour after the official start of it ( but it's ok for the rest, as we get 24 hours for every 4 actions).

Kind regards

Tournaments do not operate like regular games. Tournaments have a set time limit for an entire round. You don't make a move and get time added on after every move like regular turn-based games. Give a link the tournament so we can see the settings.

But that issue aside, as long as it is turn-based and not real time you shouldn't have an issue. If it is real time and you're not there at the beginning you'll likely run out of time in the first round. If it's single elimination then you'll be out. If it's Swiss, then your opponent would basically be getting a bye. But if it's round robin, ALL GAMES ARE PLAYED SIMULTANEOUSLY. You may lose every single game depending on the time settings.

I don't know enough about this game to know whether these settings are appropriate for the length of the game, but each player has a total of 5 days on their clock per round, so the hour you miss at the very beginning is not likely to be the determining factor of whether you run out of time.

Why is it that you think you get "24 hours for every 4 actions"?

Ok, it's what I was thinking, it's enough, so I will play it.
I wrote the wrong information, was talking about the 5 days.
Thank you ! I will update the result when it will end.

Thanks for the info! I was noticing that starting a day or two ago, I got 1 XP when a tournament finished, even if it had a small number of players. And just today, I got 12 XP and an achievement for being in the "top division" in a tournament, which I guess means top half of players, but that seems very generous considering that anyone who made it past round 1 got that achievement.

I was knocked out in the first round of a tournament and received a "Top Division" award. So you can get it for just finishing the tournament.

Although I think this is mainly to incentivize players not to drop out of Swiss tournaments after one or two early loses, it's nice that you get it for single-elimination as well.
