Hi,

Thank you for participating to this tournament.

Sorry about the lack of news.

Semifinals are going to take place on Tuesday 28th July at 20:00 CEST (3 matches: 20:00, 21:00 and 22:00).

Considering the number of participants to each serie, the first 6 players of each serie are qualified for these semifinals.

Cheers,

I'm sorry but in that case I have to press for disqualification of player yaroslav, it is 100% unacceptable that players receive advise during game and/or disrupt its course.

Besides, I clearly won the game 8-2 and the game was FINISHED when I ran out of time. Incidentally had I not experienced the constant brief disconnections that plague BGA we wouldn't even be discussing this.

Please review the case ASAP. If you want your tournaments to be taken seriously, you need to provide a sane environment for them to take place in, including arbitration when disputes arise!

No, no, no, no, no.

This is absolutely unacceptable. How can the official rules change midway through? If you had said that roughly top 20% of each series qualifies, so be it.

But you said 20 and then change it to 6, AFTER the event. This means terrible disappointment and bad PR for BGA and CGE, for the majority of participants. I'm a big fan of both, but this leaves a sour taste. I don't feel like getting membership nor buying any more CGE games.

It makes zero sense. Less participants should mean MORE people are acceptable to the next round, since you have extra capacity. I understand that you want to maintain a higher level, but you cannot do it like this, changing the rules in hindsight. What if the top 6 don't take part (they forget or are unable to)? Then you will have just a handful of people in semis.

Imagine if after a Formula 1 qualification with just 10 cars out of 20 taking part, they would change the rule so that only the top 3 make it to third part of quali, AFTER the second quali has been already raced. It could never happen.

The other thing is: Unless the glitch that makes the timer 5 minutes (rather than 30) is fixed, all games are void. Anyone can click a button to either win or draw unlawfully. Everyone gets flagged in each game for going overtime, unfairly. This is unacceptable.

You need to recognize that the tournament is a huge failure on every level, and reorganize it from scratch, so that things actually work AND it caters for any number of participants without ever changing the rules in hindsight.

The fact is, the top 20 qualify, and you cannot just say 'sorry, we lied, it's 6 now'. No matter what you thought you were doing, that's disgraceful and makes the tournament meaningless.

I total agree with the post above. You had 8 groups at the beginning, so you were ready to have 160 (20x8) participants in the semifinals, so why now restrict it to just 24.

It is unacceptable to change the rules during a game/tournament. Please revisit the decision so anyone who participate has a fair chance.

Thank you

I think it is pretty reasonable to change the format once they realized it wasn't going to get as many people as they wanted. Do they really want 70% of the people who played to be re-invited to a "semi-final" just because they made that mistake? The point of several events is to gradually eliminate people from the pool, not to invite X many people to the next event.

I do not know what you wanted to achieve but reducing number of qualified players to second round is a bad way to do it.

You could reduce number of qualified from semifinal(s) and/or increase number of rounds in final (semifinal) it would be much easier for players to accept than reducing promised semifinal places from 20 to 6 per tournament.

Better to allow some players who do not deserve it to semifinal than disquilify players by changing the rules of already finished game.

The thing is that tash-kalar is not the kind of game where knowledge about how many people will qualify will change the way you play the game. Everything is either win or lose and you try your best every game. It is not like chess, where you might play for a draw if it will guarantee you make the top 20. So I can't see why anyone is annoyed that they made such an obvious change (I certainly expected it before the tournament started) when everyone would be in the same position they are in now even if they made the announcement before the games started.

For a start because they grant 'free' points to players whose opponents didn't show up? I don't think it's the right way to do this, and while this may sound pretentious they definitely didn't get the best players to go through this way.

Every single game I can think of that has a tournament format gives full points to a player who's opponent fails to show up. You want to punish a person because their opponent failed to show?

EDIT: I do agree that the tournament format is bad, but only because there aren't enough rounds.

I hope that we don't have to play this tournament with BGA's website so unstable ;).
