So that's an issue for a game like Ark Nova (or Space Base), where early turns can have you making one-click actions, but later turns can have you doing combos where you have to basically do a double or even triple turn.
That said, all games have a buffer of time that's supposed to cover this kind of thing. Turn speed is set as x amount per turn up to a maximum, and everyone starts with that maximum. So for that game of Space Base you got +0:18 per turn, with a maximum of 1:54. That's enough for 6 additional turns throughout the game. In some cases that won't be enough, but if that's the case for you, maybe the fast turn speed isn't for you.
