I think that if he would be moderated now and will repeat the violation in the future by creating new accounts, this could lead to a ban by IP?

We also need a tournament setting "prohibit entry for participants who play from the same IP" (except in cases of personal invitation).

Most individuals (i.e., not business entities) do not have static IP addresses, so an IP ban would be a temporary fix. Given that this person has demonstrated a little bit of tech savvy, depending on what kind of WiFi access point they are using they may be able to trigger a new DHCP IP assignment. It may be a hassle, but they seem determined to cheat so they may feel it's worth the effort. Oh, and VPNs are also a thing.

If BGA could permanently ban someone by IP address alone, they would have already done it to the person who keeps making new accounts and posting in the Puerto Rico forum that the BGA Community Manager has an alt account that is cheating.

After conducting a thorough internal review, we can confirm that multiple accounts in the tournament are being operated by the same individual(s). This behavior is unacceptable and directly undermines the spirit of fair competition that our community values.

We are in contact with BGA regarding these findings, and appropriate steps are being considered. In the meantime:

🔸 We are giving those involved one final opportunity to remove themselves from the tournament and delete any duplicate or deceptive accounts.
🔸 If no action is taken, we will move forward with public naming and possible bans from future tournaments.
🔸 This is not just about one tournament – it's about maintaining trust and fairness across all of them.

We deeply appreciate the players who brought this to attention and continue to play with integrity. Tournament integrity matters, and we will protect it.

Just skimming through the topic.

2 things:
" public naming " - would get you problems with admins, but do annoy them through "official means" ;)

Start adding that into Description/tournament rules: "no participation with multiple accounts" - so its explicit and clear to everybody

they collect a shit ton of data, and DO have the means to perma ban most casual players from the platform IF they want to - oh and by the by, they are saving that data for at least 18+ months ... ;)

Can you give an exact link to this rule, please? Other player's nicknames are often indicated in the organizer's message summing up the tournament results. If the organizer writes DSQ next to some nicknames, I don't think it will be considered a violation, but everything will be clear to everyone.

It's true that they cannot be named publicly.

I've noticed that many accounts are no longer in the tournament. Now there are three left with the same IP.

If you spend enough time in the forums you will come across moderation edits removing the names from posts with cheating allegations. But it goes beyond allegations of actual cheating. For example, look at the moderation edit in this post: https://boardgamearena.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=43885 They didn't say * was cheating. All they said was "I am probably wrong in assuming * didn't want to play me and so disconnected." The response was: "*Moderation Edit: please do not use the Forums to call out specific players by name." Maybe it was the "didn't want to play with me" part that crossed the line into "calling someone out"? Who knows. But for sure a post saying "users X, Y, and Z are all the same multi-accounting person in this tournament" will get you moderated.

In fact, I won't mention any names in this post. But if anyone wants to know more, they'll surely know who I'm talking about.

No, I don't spend time on the forum and I don't want to. I would like to see a list of site rules where this rule is clearly stated. In particular, where exactly and in what context players' nicknames cannot be indicated. A message with suspicion of cheating on the forum and a message in the tournament information, which simply lists the results of a series of tournaments (indicating the participants disqualified by the organizer's decision) are not the same thing for me.
